Dedicated to making a better world for anime and roleplaying
Introduction
by Tatsuhoshi Akira
'Why does this site exist?' is quite possibly what you are asking yourself as you come here. This is a simple question to answer. I have created this website to address several issues that I have encountered in my roleplaying over the years that I feel greatly diminish the quality of a hobby that I have enjoyed for more than 20 years, and intened to enjoy for many more. I am not the only one who feels this way and anyone who feels that they have something meaningful to contribute as solutions to their own problems in the wide and diverse hobby of roleplaying, can do so here as well. Yes, articles will be reviewed to verify that there is nothing that I and the administrators of the site do not believe will meaningfully contribute to the improvement of roleplaying, but we are open-minded individuals who are quite willing to diversify our thinking and accept the way that others think.
Over the past 13 years that I have been actively gamemastering games for others, sometimes for rather large groups, I've noticed increasing trends in the younger generations of roleplayers that are not only detrimental to games, but tend to leave a bad taste in the mouth of other gamers, lessening the experience for them, or negatively influencing them into thinking that these are normal behaviours that they should repeat. Like most hobbies, there are right ways to go about things, and wrong ways. Am I saying you have to agree with my way of thinking? Certainly not. Everyone is entitled to their own way of thinking, and this site is not meant to change that. It is, however, intended to provide guidelines and advice that I, personally, believe will lead to better roleplaying, for both players and gamemasters.
If you find that one of these problems addressed on this site indicates a behaviour that you may be displaying, then rather than getting miffed at this being pointed out, work to actively improve it so that it doesn't. If you find a problem you are having addressed in a game you are running or playing in, then by all means, read up on the subject and address the issue with your fellow gamers to see if a solution can be found. My solutions aren't the only solutions, of course, so be sure to listen to what others have to say and clearly make your own points.
Should you find some other information here that you believe would be useful or interesting to make use of in your own game, then please feel free to use it, but remember to give credit where credit is due. This site represents the works of those who have contributed to them. Do not claim effort that you have not taken.
What about the anime articles? Well, simply put, I'm an anime fan; an otaku, as it were. I have enjoyed anime for many years and like to share my knowledge and experiences with my hobbies with others. Here you will find reviews, game stats for some things (eventually) and other anime related articles. I may even get the gumption to attempt a small web-comic here someday.
With this said and done, please enjoy this site. I hope you will find it useful and informative.
